Yukino, from Japan

Returning home after studying abroad can be an anxious time. Especially if you've become a Christian whilst in the UK and you've not lived as a believer at home before. This was certainly Yukino, from Japan's, concerns after studying in the UK. She was worried as in Japan there are few Christians and an intense pressure to conform. So she looked to the Apprenticeship Programme for help. She says:

I was afraid to return to Japan at the end of my year studying in the UK because I thought Japanese culture might shake my Christian faith. I can get easily influenced by people or the environment around me. I was only thinking about how my faith could survive. I signed up to the Transformations Apprenticeship Programme because I wanted to influence others rather than be influenced! I learnt that Japanese culture and Christianity are not completely conflicted with each other. That God can actually contain and hold Japanese culture and that God can add more salt and flavour to it too! I didn’t need to be afraid. I got some keys to how to transform Japanese culture with Bible verses! I feel that I trust God more now.
